How much time do I have to keep checked-out material?

RESERVES / RENEWALS / FINES

Reserve Books (Instructor owned):

  • 2 Hour Checkout
  • $0.25/hour fine

Reserve Materials:

Headphones/ Charging Cables/ Graphing Calculators

  • 4 Hour Checkout 
  • Can be renewed one time
  • $0.25/hour fine

Study Rooms

  • 2 Hour Checkout
  • Can be extended one time if other rooms are available♦
  • $0.25/hour fine

Webcams

  • 4-hour library use only or long term check-out available
  • Can be renewed one time
  • $0.25/hour fine

Because checkout periods vary, the fine may be by the hour or day.

♦ At the discretion of Library staff, if there are vacant rooms available, Study Rooms may be renewed 1 time.

CIRCULATING BOOKS / RENEWALS / FINES

Circulating Books:

  • Circulating Books are 21-day Checkouts
  • Total of 10 books per checkout with 5 books per subject
  • Can be renewed one time on or before the due date for an additional 3 weeks
  • $0.25/day with a maximum daily fine of $10.00 per book
  • Once the fine reaches the max, the student is placed on registration hold and charged the book cost plus a $5.00 processing fee.
  • If the materials are Out of Print, the default charges are $15.00 for paperback books and $30.00 for hardbound books.
  • If the materials are returned, the accrued daily fine is all that is owed.
  • Registration Hold is lifted once the account is paid.

UNIVERSITY CENTER STUDENTS

University Center and  Alternative Teacher Certification Students are allowed to check out:

  • up to 10 books
  • with 5 per subject
  • for 3 weeks
  • with a 1-time renewal (3 weeks)
  • with a MCC ID card obtainable on the 1st floor of the Administration Building (inside the Business Office)
  • accrued fines and fees are the same as for MCC students
