Using APA on an Infographic

Disclaimer: Follow exactly what your instructor requires within provided templates and assignment requirements. The following simply provides the standard interpretation of APA formatting for non-research paper assignments and publications.

While APA style does not directly address the formatting of multimedia productions or publications, similar APA formatting rules apply.

When quoting or paraphrasing from your source, use parenthetical citations (also referred to as in-text citations).

For example

"It divides species into nine categories: Not Evaluated, Data Deficient, Least Concern, Near Threatened, Vulnerable, Endangered, Critically Endangered, Extinct in the Wild and Extinct" (IUCN, 2023).

For images, include a section at the end of your infographic called "Image Credits" and cite your image sources.

For example

Last name, F. (YYYY). Image Title or Description [Photograph]. Website Name. URL

When including an image, it is okay not to provide a reference for images that don't require attribution, especially if it is just used for decoration rather than information.

Include a References section at the end of your infographic and cite your information sources.

For example

Platt, K., Platt, S. G., Thirakhupt, K., & Rainwater, T. R. (2008). Recent records and conservation status of the critically endangered mangrove terrapin, Batagur baska, in Myanmar. Chelonian Conservation and Biology7(2), 261-265. https://doi.org/10.2744/CCB-0701.1
