Poetry Journals and Periodicals

The lists below contain just a few of the poetry journals in the MCC Library. Some of the journals allow you to browse, while for others you must enter search terms. Scroll to the bottom of this page to learn how to find more journals and periodicals.

The American Poetry Review (Review)
"A journal presenting original poetry, literary criticism, interviews, essays and social commentary" (Old City Publishing).
The Chaucer Review (Online)
"Founded in 1966, The Chaucer Review publishes studies of language, sources, social and political contexts, aesthetics, and associated meanings of Chaucer’s poetry, as well as articles on medieval literature, philosophy, theology, and mythography relevant to study of the poet and his contemporaries, predecessors, and audiences" (Penn State University Press).
Columbia: A Journal of Literature and Art (Online)
"An annual publication that features the very best in poetry, fiction, nonfiction and art" (Columbia).
Confrontation (Online)
"Each ssue contains original work by famous and by lesser-known writers. Each issue also contains a thematic supplement that "confronts" a topic; the ensuing "confrontation" is an attempt to see the many sides of an issue rather than a formed conclusion" (Long Island University).
Hanging Loose (Online)

The Kenyon Review (Online)

New Coin Poetry (Online)
"A publication of poetry, and poetry-related reviews, commentary and interviews with a particular emphasis on evolving forms and experimental use of the English language in poetry in the South African context" (Rhodes University).
Poetics Today (Online)
"Poetics Today brings together scholars from throughout the world who are concerned with developing systematic approaches to the study of literature and with applying such approaches to the interpretation of literary works" (Duke University Press).
Poetry: A Magazine of Verse (Online)
"A monthly journal of contemporary poetry; includes poetry, critical essays, book reviews and letters" (The Poetry Foundation).
Prairie Schooner (Online)
"An international literary quarterly journal. Publishes fiction, poetry, essays, translations, and reviews by beginning and in mid-career authors as well as established writers. For academic audiences" (University of Nebraska Press).
The Sewanee Review (Online)
"Having never missed an issue in more than a century, the Sewanee Review is the oldest continuously published literary quarterly in the country. Begun in 1892 at The University of the South in Sewanee, Tennessee, the Review is devoted to American and British fiction, poetry, and reviews – as well as essays in criticism and reminiscence" (The Johns Hopkins University Press).
Victorian Poetry (Online)
"Founded in 1962 to further the aesthetic study of the poetry of the Victorian Period in Britain (1830–1914), Victorian Poetry publishes articles from a broad range of theoretical and critical angles, including new historicism, feminism, and social and cultural issues" (West Virginia University Press).
West Branch (Online)
"A thrice-yearly magazine of poetry, fiction, essays, and reviews" (Bucknell University).
Windsor Review (Online)
"Arts journal covering poetry, fiction and art as well as interviews with prominent authors and artists" (University of Windsor).

Select the "Journals" tab at the top of the library search tool.
Change the drop-down menu (to the left of the search bar) to read "subject."
Search for the word "poetry."

The resulting list will contain all of the library's journals on poetry.
