Searching for Children's Books in the MCC Library Catalog

If you would like to find literature for children or youth based on a subject or topic, consider the following suggestions

1.  Consult our reference series in the reference section, A to Zoo or Best Books for Children (Z 1037).  These reference books list authors and book titles according to subject or topic.  If you find a book that interests you, use the library catalog to search by author or title to locate the book if it is available in our collection.  Or search for the book in the Waco-McLennan County Library's catalog.

2.  Using the MCC Library Catalog's advanced search, enter your topic under general keyword and include search terms that indicate children's literature.  The standard subject heading for children's literature is "juvenile fiction" or "juvenile literature."  You can also enter your topic and include Newbery, Caldecott, Geisel or other children's literature award names into the general keyword search.
