• Make sure your assignments adhere to the rules of the MLA Handbook, 9th Edition. 
• Make sure you include the correct number of sources:
  • zero sources for the Issue-proposal Assignment (you only need to choose a topic for this assignment)
  • five to six sources for the Annotated-bibliography Assignment (at least two peer-reviewed articles and no more than two Internet sources)
  • zero sources for the Research paper because you will re-use the five to six sources you chose for the previous assignment
• Make sure you follow the MLA Handbook when citing sources
  • Include in-text citations in your paper for information that you gather from your sources. 
  • Include a Works Cited page at the end of your outline, which includes a permalink for any source you obtain through the MCC Library 
    • view the second video on the "How to Begin" page of this guide to learn to locate the permalink for library resources
    • that video addresses the cite, share, and save buttons; the share button leads to the permalink 

If you're confused about annotations:

Review Purdue OWL's Sample MLA Annotation, but please remember that you are only required to include three to four sentences in each of your annotations. You do not have to make your annotation as long as the sample.

If you're confused about citations:

Check out the "MLA Citations" box on this page or ask an MCC librarian for help by stopping by the library or by using the links in the "Get Research and Citation Help" box on this page.

Although this video states that you can use any font, most instructors prefer Times New Roman 12-point font. Review your assignment prompt to determine your instructor's preference.

It's easy to understand most types of cheating because we learned about them as children. It's harder to understand plagiarism though.
