While 75 percent of our members are employed in higher education or are students of anthropology, about 25 percent of our members work in the public, private, and non-governmental sectors, beyond the academy. The Association is organized into 40 sections, each reflecting specialized domains of knowledge" (AAA).

The tDAR repository encompasses digital data, documents, and images derived from ongoing archaeological research, as well as legacy data derived from more than a century of archaeological research. The repository provides for long-term preservation and easy discovery and access to databases, spreadsheets, documents, and images in a variety of common formats" (Digging into Data).

"Paralleling the NPS Mission, the Archeology Program aims to preserve and protect the nation's archeological heritage for the enjoyment, education, and inspiration of this and future generations. The Archeology Program develops and coordinates service-wide policies, standards, and procedures for managing archeological resources; provides staff advice, technical assistance, and professional development regarding the identification, evaluation, documentation, inventory, protection, and interpretation of archeological resources; maintains an archeological site inventory and other statistics; coordinates with other disciplines to ensure interdisciplinary management practices" (NPSAP).

"The SAA is an international organization that, since its founding in 1934, has been dedicated to research about and interpretation and protection of the archaeological heritage of the Americas. With nearly 7,000 members, SAA represents professional and avocational archaeologists, archaeology students in colleges and universities, and archaeologists working at Tribal agencies, museums, government agencies, and the private sector. SAA has members throughout the U.S., as well as in many nations around the world" (SAA).

"The TAS is a professional and avocational society that engages in and promotes scientific archeological exploration and research, preservation and conservation of archeological materials and sites, and the interpretation and publication of data. [They] provide students of all ages the opportunity to take part in research and training through our Academies, Field School, and Annual Meeting" (TAS).
