How to search the catalog for books

Here's a quick tip for searching for books in the McLennan Library catalog:

  1. Select "Subject - Alphabetical" from the drop-down box and enter your search term (i.e., counseling).
  2. The resulting list will provide you with many subject headings that have to do with the search term you entered, such as "Educational Counseling", "Assertiveness Training", and "Marriage Counseling", etc.
  3. Select a subject that appeals to you and browse through the books.
  4. If it is an e-book, you can read it on your screen by clicking through.
  5. If it is in the Circulating Collection, you will need to come to the library to check out that book.
  6. If it is in the Reference Collection, you will need to come use the book in the library.
