Services for Faculty

This guide explains library services available to faculty such as, checking out materials, requesting library instruction, course reserves, and other helpful information.

How to Find an Article URL

1. From a campus computer, locate an article within MCC's Discovery Search system (multidatabase search) or within an individual library database.

2. Locate the article URL in the article record or citation.  It will be labeled as either "Permalink" (Discovery Search, Ebsco databases), "Bookmark this Document" or "Bookmark" (Gale databases, NewsBank - bottom of page), and "Document URL" (CQ Researcher and ProQuest Global Newsstream, bottom of page).

3.  Copy the URL to use the library article link in Brightspace.

4.  In order for the article link to work off-campus, if the URL does not have the following characters at the beginning of the URL:

https://ezproxy.mclennan.edu/login?url=

followed by a second "http," please add this character string to the front of your article URL.

For example:

http://docs.newsbank.com/openurl?ctx_ver=z39.88-2004&rft_id=info:sid/iw.newsbank.com:NewsBank:WTHB&rft_val_format=info:ofi/fmt:kev:mtx:ctx&rft_dat=14FA1854880BD468&svc_dat=InfoWeb:aggregated5&req_dat=0D0CB5F98AD8E74A

becomes:

https://ezproxy.mclennan.edu/login?url=http://docs.newsbank.com/openurl?ctx_ver=z39.88-2004&rft_id=info:sid/iw.newsbank.com:NewsBank:WTHB&rft_val_format=info:ofi/fmt:kev:mtx:ctx&rft_dat=14FA1854880BD468&svc_dat=InfoWeb:aggregated5&req_dat=0D0CB5F98AD8E74A
